राहु पितरांचा दर्शक

आपल्या ज्ञात अज्ञात पूर्वजांचे स्मरण करण्यासाठी शास्त्रकारांनी भाद्रपदमासातील कृष्णपक्षाची योजना केली आहे. या काळात कुळाचाराप्रमाणे श्राद्धाचे विहित कर्म करून पितरांचे स्मरण करण्याची प्रथा आहे. आधुनिक काळात आपापल्या श्रद्धेप्रमाणे, सोयीप्रमाणे पितरांचे स्मरण करण्याच्या नव्या रुढी पडत चालल्या आहेत. आपल्या पूर्वजांकडून आपण संपत्ती, गुणदोष, चालीरीती, संस्कार अशा अनेक गोष्टी कळत नकळत घेत असतो. आपल्या हातून घडणाऱ्या चांगल्या वाईट कर्मांमध्ये या वारशाचा वाटा असतो, त्याची कृतज्ञता म्हणून पितरांचे स्मरण करणे गरजेचे असते. जगाच्या पाठीवरील प्रत्येक धर्मात, संस्कृतीत काही ना काही प्रकारे पूर्वजांचे स्मरण केरण्याची प्रथा आहे ती यासाठी.

फलज्योतिषात राहूवरून पितामह किंवा पितर, पूर्वज पाहतात, पिढीजात शाप पाहतात. धनस्थानापासून घराणे पाहतात. या दोन गोष्टींवरून पितरांकडून आलेला वारसा दिसून येतो. पत्रिकेत राहूचे विशिष्ट योग असतील तर अशावेळी पूर्वजांचा मागोवा घ्यावा लागतो. आजच्या काळात या गोष्टींवर फारसा विश्वास ठेवला जात नाही. मीही ह्या शक्यतांचा विचार शेवटी करत असे परंतु माझ्याकडे आलेल्या काही जातकांच्या अनुभवांनी हा विचार बदलायला लावला. त्यातील काही पुढे देत आहे. शेवटी प्रत्यक्ष ज्ञान तर्कालाही हरवते.

संकेतच्या घरात अचानक आजारपणे, अपघात, भांडणे सुरु झाली. त्यामागचे कारण सापडत नव्हते. त्याच्या पत्रिकेत चतुर्थस्थानी चंद्र राहु युती होती, चंद्र राहु दशेत या युतीवरूनराहूचे गोचर भ्रमण सुरु होते. संकेतला मी त्यावर्षीचे श्राद्ध करण्याचे राहिले आहे का असे विचारले. संकेतच्या म्हणण्याप्रमाणे त्यांच्या घरात श्राद्ध कधीच होत नव्हते, पण दरवर्षी ते पितरांचे स्मरण करून काही रक्कम देणगी म्हणून देत असत ती या वर्षी द्यायची राहिली होती. काही आर्थिक अडचणींमुळे तसे करणे शक्य झाले नव्हते. मी वर म्हणल्याप्रमाणे श्राद्ध याचा अर्थ पितरांचे स्मरण करून केलेले कर्म असा आहे; संकेतच्या पत्रिकेने मला त्या कर्मात पडलेला खंड बिनचूक दाखविला होता. ग्रहदशा आणि गोचर यामुळे हे कर्म राहून गेले की कर्म राहून गेल्याने अशा ग्रहस्थितीमुळे घरात वाईट घटना घडू लागल्या हे सांगणे अवड आहे.

संकेतचा प्रश्न लवकर सुटला. दरवेळी प्रश्न सुटतातच असे नाही. नीरजाबाईंना त्यांच्या नवऱ्याकडून आणि भावाकडून त्रास भोगावा लागत होता, त्यांच्या मुलीचा घटस्फोट होऊ घातला होता. त्यांच्या पत्रिकेत बुध राहु केंद्रयोग आणि त्यांच्या मुलीच्या पत्रिकेत बुध राहु युती होती. बुधाचा दोन्ही ठिकाणी धनस्थानाशी संबंध होता. मी त्यांना त्यांच्या घरात कोणाचा घातपाताने किंवा छळाने मृत्यू झाला आहे का हे विचारले. त्यांना आश्चर्य वाटून त्यांनी त्यांच्या आत्याने घरी होणाऱ्या छळाला कंटाळून जाळून घेतल्याचे सांगितले. बुध तरुण माणूस विशेषत: मुंजा मुलगा (मुंज होऊन लग्न न झालेला) दाखवतो. बुधावरून आत्या दिसत नाही, म्हणजे आत्याचाही छळ झाला तो अशा तरुण मुलाच्या/मुलीच्या मृत्यूचा परिपाक होता. अशावेळी मूळ कळल्याशिवाय उपाय करता येत नाही. सर्वपित्री श्राद्ध करूनही संकट टळत नाही. मी त्यांना अशा घटनेचा शोध घ्यायला सांगितला. परंतु आजवर तो शोध लागलेला नाही, भोगही संपलेले नाहीत.

सानिका आणि तिच्या नवऱ्याच्या दोघांच्या पत्रिकेत मंगळ राहुचे षष्ठ, व्यय स्थानातून योग होते; सानिकाच्या पत्रिकेत मंगळ, राहू प्रतियुती आणि तिच्या नवऱ्याच्या पत्रिकेत मंगळ राहु व्ययातील युती. मंगळ, राहू युती घरातील विधवा स्त्री, विशेषत: जिला घरात चांगली वागणूक मिळालेली नाही अशी, दाखवते. अशी युती जर षष्ठ, व्यय स्थानात असेल तर त्या स्रीच्या तळतळाटातून वाईट फळे मिळतात. पूर्वी घराघरातून अशा स्त्रिया असत, पण सध्याच्या काळात हे अभावाने आढळते. मी सानिकाला ही शक्यता बोलून दाखवली. तिने चौकशी केली असता तिच्या आजेसासूबाईंच्या बाबतीतच असे घडले असल्याचे आढळले. मागच्या अनुभवावरून काही वाईट घटना घडण्याआधीच तिला त्यांच्या स्मरणार्थ श्राद्ध किंवा दान किंवा इतर कर्म करण्यास सांगितले आहे.

नात्यातील गैरसमज - ज्योतिषाची मदत

अरविंद (नाव बदलेले आहे) माझ्याकडे त्याच्या मोठ्या बहिणीशी सध्या संबंध नीट नाहीत अशी तक्रार घेऊन आला. त्याच्या म्हणण्याप्रमाणे नक्की काय बिघडले होते हे त्याला कळत नव्हते. त्याने प्रश्न विचारला तेव्हाची पत्रिका मी मांडली (प्रश्नकुंडली १).

प्रश्नकुंडली १: ५ ऑक्टोबर, २०१३, १२:०४, पुणे

प्रश्नकुंडलीत प्रश्न, त्यासंबंधीची सर्व परिस्थिती यांचे प्रतिबिंब असते. मग ती परिस्थिती भूत, वर्तमान किंवा भविष्य या कुठल्याही काळातील असो. मोठे बहिण किंवा भाऊ लाभस्थानावरून पाहतात. चंद्र दशमात म्हणजे लाभाच्या व्ययात त्यामुळे मोठ्या बहिणीशी बिघडलेल्या संबंधाविषयी प्रश्न आहे दिसत होतं. त्याचप्रमाणे अष्टमातला चंद्र मानसिक ताणही दाखवत होता. त्यात चंद्र स्वनक्षत्रात, शुक्राच्या उपनक्षत्रस्वामीमध्ये, शुक्र लाभेश, स्त्रीदर्शक ग्रह, प्रश्नाची सर्व ओळख पटली. आता निदान करायचं होतं.

या कुंडलीत शुक्र, मंगळ केंद्रयोग आहे. शुक्र लाभेश आणि मंगळ पंचमेश, म्हणजे लाभाचा सप्तमेश. लाभस्थान मोठ्या बहिणीचं तर पंचमस्थान तिच्या पतीचं. त्यात ते शुक्र मंगळ म्हणजे विवाहसौख्याशी (की असौख्याशी) संबंधित ग्रह. मी अरविंदला त्याच्या बहिणीचे तिच्या पतीशी संबंध कसे आहेत हे विचारलं. असे नसते अगोचरपणे ज्योतिषाला करावेच लागतात. प्रश्नकुंडलीने दाखविलेल्या शक्यता पडताळूनच उत्तरं मिळतात. आश्चर्यचकित होऊन त्याने मला त्यांचा काही महिन्यांपूर्वी घटस्फोट झाल्याचं सांगितलं. दशमाचा उपनक्षत्रस्वामी राहु स्वनक्षत्रात, लाभात लाभाशी युती करताना दिसला. राहु अशा स्थतीत गैरसमज, मनात दाटलेली काळोखी, जळमटे दाखवितो. मी अरविंदला त्यांच्यात काहीतरी गैरसमज झाल्याचे सांगितले. हे गैरसमज तिच्या वैवाहिक आयुष्यातील दु:खद घडामोडींमुळे आहेत ह्याची कल्पना दिली.

"मग आता काय करू? हे नातं पुन्हा कसं जुळवू?", अरविंदने विचारलं. प्रश्नकुंडली, प्रश्न दाखवते, त्याची पार्श्वभूमी दाखविते, आणि उत्तरंही देते. लाभाचा उपनक्षत्रस्वामी बुध दशमात पडलेला दिसला. तो दशमात असला तरीही लाभाशी होऊ घातलेल्या युतीत होता. बुध वाणी, संवादाचा कारक आहे. मी अरविंदला, स्वत: मागील सर्व गोष्टी विसरून बहिणीशी मोकळेपणाने बोलायला सांगितलं. अरविंदला अशा बोलण्यातून गैरसमज आणखी वाढतील का अशी चिंता पडली होती. मजा अशी की दशमाचा उपनक्षत्रस्वामी लाभातून दशमात चालला होता आणि लाभाचा उपनक्षत्रस्वामी दशमातून लाभात. स्वस्थानी जाणाऱ्या या ग्रहांनी, दोघे बहिण-भाऊ आपले मतभेद विसरून एकत्र येणार, हे मला निसंदिग्धपणे दाखवलं, आणि त्याप्रमाणे ते झालंही!

ग्रहदेखील न बोलता आयुष्यातलं नाट्य किती समर्थपणे दाखवतात? पहायला जरा कवीचं हृदय हवं इतकंच!

India Vs Bangladesh: prediction using astrology

I am not a cricket follower, but I like it because it helps me study astrology. My friends, relatives feed me with questions about these matches. World Cup 2015 is no different. "Will XYZ win the match?" is a common question.

For such questions, here are the rules (simplified) as per Krishnamurti system.

1. XYZ is represented by the ascendant and the seventh house indicates the opposite team/player. The sixth house being the twelfth to seventh, indicates the losses to opposite team and hence the sixth house is of prime importance in the horary charts.

2. If the Moon is significator of the sixth house, the horary chart provides the correct answer.

3. Whether XYZ will win or not, is indicated by the sub-lord of the sixth house. If the sub-lord is significator of the sixth, tenth (house related to one's accomplishments) or eleventh (house indicating one's desires and gains) house, XYZ wins, otherwise it looses.

4. Other rules like rules for retrograde planets are applicable here too.

Three different people, at three different moments asked me, "Whether India will win in the quarter final match against Bangladesh?". Follows the analysis of the horary charts

Chart 1: 18/Mar/2015 16:01:00, Pune

Chart 1 has the Moon in the star of Mars and is significator of houses 1, 7, 5, 9, and 10. Since it's not significator of the 6th house, I told that I can not answer this question at that moment. Sub-lord of the sixth house is the Sun, posited in the star of Saturn, who is retrograde. So, if I had to chosen to answer the question, I would have answered that India will loose, which would have been a wrong answer. India did win the match.

Chart 2: 19/Mar/2015 10:41:00, Pune

Chart 2 has the Moon in the star of Rahu and is signficator of houses 2, 3, 5, and 10. Since it's not significator of the sixth house, again I did not answer the question. The sub-lord of the sixth house is Jupiter, who is retrograde and is posited in the star of Mercury. Since retrograde Jupiter is significator of 10th and 11th house, I would have answered (if chosen to answer) that India will win the match after Jupiter gets into direct motion i.e. after 9th April. A one day match would never have stretched that far and I would have been a laughing stock.

Chart 3: 19/Mar/2015 08:49:00, Pune

Chart 3 has the Moon in the star of Rahu, who is posited in the sixth house. Now I could answer the question. Rahu is also sub-lord of the sixth house and is also significator of sixth house. So, I answered that India will win the match. By the way, Rahu also indicated that the batsmen on both sides will disappoint. Indian batsmen lost wickets easily and Bangladeshi batsmen couldn't even cross 200.

This method doesn't help betting. If the person who is betting is bound to loose money, an astrologer can not predict the winner. So, if somebody asks whether XYZ will win or not with the purpose of betting, the horary chart will show the outcome of the bet and not the outcome of match. If the outcome of the bet and the outcome of the match do not concur, astrologer's prediction will be falsified.

भारत विरुद्ध बांग्लादेश, कोण जिंकेल? प्रश्नकुंडलीतील प्रश्नाचे महत्त्व

ज्योतिष शिकताना महत्वाचा म्हणजे सराव. तो मला घरच्यांकडून आणि मित्रांकडून भरपूर मिळत आलेला आहे. मला वास्तविक क्रिकेटमध्ये फार रस नाही, पण क्रिकेटच्या स्पर्धा सुरु झाल्या (हल्ली त्या वर्षभर चालूच असतात) की हे लोक मला सामन्यांचा निकालाबाबत प्रश्न विचारतात. अशा प्रश्नांमधून ज्योतिषाचे प्राथमिक धडे पक्के होतातच, पण ज्योतिषातील नियमांचे वस्तुनिष्ठ परीक्षण करायला भरपूर वाव मिळतो. त्याचे एक उदाहरण म्हणजे, परवाचा भारत विरुद्ध बांग्लादेश सामना!

एखाद्या सामन्यात इच्छित संघ/खेळाडू जिंकेल का? प्रकारच्या प्रश्नांमध्ये कृष्णमूर्ती ज्योतिषाचे नियम खालीलप्रमाणे आहेत

१. लग्नस्थान हे जो जिंकेल का असा प्रश्न आहे त्याचे आणि सातवे स्थान हे विरोधी संघाचे/माणसाचे धरावे. विरोधी संघ हरतो, म्हणजे त्याचे व्यय स्थान फलित होते, म्हणून हा प्रश्न सहाव्या (सातव्याचे व्ययस्थान) स्थानावरून सोडवतात.

२. प्रश्नकुंडलीत चंद्र सहाव्या स्थानाचा कारक असेल तर ती कुंडली बरोबर उत्तर देते. 

३. इच्छित संघ/माणूस जिंकेल का याचे उत्तर सहाव्या स्थानाचा उपनक्षत्रस्वामी देतो. हा उपनक्षत्रस्वामी जर ६ (सातव्याचे व्ययस्थान) किंवा सहयोगी स्थाने १० (कर्तृत्व स्थान), ११ (लाभ, इच्छापूर्तीचे स्थान) यांचा कारक असेल तर इच्छित संघ जिंकतो, नाही तर हरतो.

४. इतर प्रश्नकुंडलीचे नियम उदा. वक्री ग्रहांचे कारकत्व इथेही लागू होतात.

भारत विरुद्ध बांग्लादेश सामन्यात भारत जिंकेल का हा प्रश्न मला तीन जणांनी वेगवेगळ्या वेळी विचारला. त्या प्रश्नकुंडल्या खाली दिल्या आहेत. त्यांचा क्रमाने विचार करू.

प्रश्नकुंडली १: 18/Mar/2015 16:01:00 पुणे

प्रश्नकुंडली १ मध्ये चंद्र मंगळाच्या धनिष्ठा नक्षत्रात आहे. तो १, ७, ५, ९, १० या स्थानांचा कारक आहे, सहाव्याचा नाही, त्यामुळे ह्या कुंडलीवरून उत्तर देता येणार नाही असे मी सांगितले. सहाव्या स्थानाचा उपनक्षत्रस्वामी रवि, शनिच्या नक्षत्रात असून शनि वक्री आहे, त्यामुळे जर मी उत्तर दिले असते तर भारत हरेल असे द्यावे लागले असते आणि अर्थातच ते चुकले असते.

प्रश्नकुंडली २: 19/Mar/2015 10:41:00, पुणे

प्रश्नकुंडली २ मध्ये चंद्र राहुच्या नक्षत्रात आहे. तो २, ३, ५, १० या स्थानांचा कारक आहे, सहाव्याचा नाही, त्यामुळे ह्या कुंडलीवरून उत्तर देता येणार नाही असे मी सांगितले.  सहाव्या स्थानाचा उपनक्षत्रस्वामी गुरु वक्री, बुधाच्या नक्षत्रात २, ३, ५, ८, १०, ११ या स्थानांचा कारक आहे. तो १०, ११ चा कारक असल्याने भारत जिंकेल असे उत्तर आले असते, पण गुरु मार्गी झाल्यावर, म्हणजे ९ एप्रिलनंतर. सामना कितीही रंगला तरी तो इतके दिवस नक्कीच चालला नसता, त्यामुळे हे उत्तर हास्यास्पद ठरले असते.

प्रश्नकुंडली ३: 19/Mar/2015 08:49:00, पुणे

प्रश्नकुंडली ३ मध्ये चंद्र राहुच्या नक्षत्रात आणि राहु ६ व्या स्थानात, त्यामुळे प्रश्न बरोबर जुळला. सहाव्या स्थानाचा उपनक्षत्रस्वामी राहु बुधाच्या नक्षत्रात ३, ४, ६, ११ या स्थानांचा कारक आहे, त्यामुळे भारत हा सामना जिंकेल असे सांगितले जे उत्तर खरे आले.  या सामन्यात आघाडीच्या फलंदाजांनी ज्या पद्धतीने विकेट फेकल्या आणि बांग्लादेशाच्या फलंदाजांनी ज्या पद्धतीने धावांमध्ये कंजुषी केली, ती राहुला साजेशी होती.

सट्ट्यासाठी या पद्धतीचा उपयोग होत नाही. सट्टेबाज जेव्हा प्रश्न विचारतो, तेव्हा तो प्रश्न ठराविक संघ/खेळाडू जिंकेल का असा न दिसता, सट्टेबाजाला पैसे मिळतील का असा दिसतो. सट्टेबाजाला जर पैसे मिळणार नसतील, तर त्याने सट्टा लावलेला संघ जिंकत नाही. अशा परिस्थितीत मुळात कुंडलीत प्रश्न दिसत नाही, त्यामुळे ज्योतिषी उत्तर देऊ शकत नाही आणि दिलेच तर ते चुकते.

Misplaced luggage: Moon's guidance

Horoscope is the map of ecliptic, the apparent path of Sun around the Earth at a given moment and place on the Earth. All the astrological planets appear to move in circles close to ecliptic. The horoscope is the map of moving planets with respect to the stationary stars on the ecliptic. A birth-chart is the horoscope at the time of birth of a given person. But a birth-chart doesn't help in answering all the questions. The astrologer uses a horoscope casted at the time of posing a query; such a chart is known as Horary chart.

Moon is considered to the significator of the mind. Moon's signification in the Horary chart indicates the thoughts in the mind of the querist. An astrologer is able to guess the question from the Horary chart, even if the queries doesn't verbalise it. An astrologer can answer the question correctly, if only the question put forth by querist and the Moon's signfication match. The querist always brings the question and the answer together; an astrologer only reads the answer. This principal when used cleverly helps answering the questions correctly. 

On 9th March, 2015, at 15:21, I got a question as follows. Luggage was misplaced during flight and had not reached its owner even after two days. The person was going to move to another city the next day. The luggage contained all the essential things like forex, eatables, clothes and so on. Obviously the person himselves and his relatives in India were anxious.  Nirayana Horary chart (see the note) at that moment is given in the figure.

The Moon is in the 6th house and is lord of the third and fourth house. It is deposited in the star of Mars is in the eleventh house and is lord of the seventh and twelth house. So the Moon signifies houses 3, 4, 6, 7, 11 and 12. The 3rd and 12th house indicate travelling abroad, 11th house indicates gains or receipt of things, 4th house would indicate possessions of the person i.e. luggage in this case. I did not understand what was 6th house doing here. Whether the person would get what he desires, is indicated by the sub-star of the 11th house. Venus, the sub-lord of the 11th house is significator of houses 1, 6, 11, 2 and 10 (last two because of Mercury, the lord of star of Venus). The sub-lord of 11th house doesn't signify 4th house, which indicates luggage, so I was about to answer that the person will not get his luggage back (at least while he is in the same city). But the fact that sub-lord of 11th house (Venus) and the Moon both signified the 6th house attracted my attention. The 7th house indicates the partner in any deed. In this case, it's the airline company. The 6th house indicates the things to be received from to the 7th house. The question here is not about lost luggage, but whether it can be obtained from the airline company. It became evident that I should be giving importance to the 6th house, rather than the 4th house. No book could have taught me that. So, with a little hesitation, I told that the person will get his luggage before Moon leaves the star of Mars on the same day. To the person's surprise, the luggage reached his hotel before he reached after the days work. The Moon posed the question and answered it as well. Don't they say that a question and its answer go hand in hand. 

Note: The question was asked by in-laws of the person travelling, so the Horary chart is casted by rotating chart by the 5th and then the 7th house.

गहाळ सामान: चंद्राचा प्रश्न आणि त्याचेच उत्तर

कुंडली म्हणजे सूर्य पृथ्वीभोवती ज्या वर्तुळातून फिरताना दिसतो, त्या मार्गाची (क्रांतीवृत्ताचा) नकाशा. मजा अशी की चंद्रासकट सगळे ग्रह (ज्योतिषीय अर्थाने) ह्याच वर्तुळाजवळून फिरताना दिसतात. क्रांतीवृत्तावरील तारे पृथ्वीवरून स्थिर दिसतात, त्यामुळे ह्या नकाशात, प्रामुख्याने ग्रहांची स्थिर ताऱ्यांच्या सापेक्ष स्थाने दाखवलेली असतात. जन्मकुंडली, म्हणजे त्या त्या व्यक्तीच्या जन्मवेळचा क्रांतीवृत्ताचा नकाशा. ज्योतिषाला विचारलेल्या प्रत्येक प्रश्नाचे उत्तर जन्मकुंडलीवरून देणे शक्य असतेच असे नाही. अशावेळी ज्योतषी प्रश्न विचारलेल्या वेळच्या क्रांतीवृत्ताच्या नकाशाचा वापर करतो, त्या नकाशाला प्रश्नकुंडली म्हणतात.

प्रश्नकुंडली: ९ मार्च २०१५ १५:२१, पुणे

चंद्र हा मनाचा कारकग्रह मानला आहे. चंद्राचे कारकत्व प्रश्न विचारायला येणाऱ्याचे मन कुठे आहे हे दाखवते. प्रश्नकुंडलीची मजा अशी की, प्रश्न विचारणाऱ्याने प्रश्नाचा उच्चार जरी केला नाही (तो मनात ठेवला), तरीही प्रश्नकुंडलीवरून ज्योतिषी प्रश्न काय आहे याचा अंदाज लावू शकतो. याचा उपयोग ज्योतषी प्रश्न ताडून पाहण्यासाठी करतात. विचारलेला प्रश्न खरंच तसाच विचारणाऱ्याच्या मनात आहे का हे पहिल्यांदा पाहिले जाते. तसे असेल तर तीच प्रश्नकुंडली प्रश्नाचे उत्तर देण्यासाठीही वापरली जाऊ शकते. थोडक्यात विचारणारा प्रश्न आणि उत्तर बरोबरच घेऊन येत असतो. ज्योतषी फक्त ते उत्तर वाचून दाखवतो. प्रश्नकुंडली ज्योतिषाला नवीन काहीतरी शिकवूनही जाते.

९ मार्च २०१५ रोजी १५:२१ ला मला प्रश्न विचारला तो असा. हे गृहस्थ परदेशी गेले होते. त्यांचे सामान तिकडे दोन दिवस झाले तरीही पोचले नाही. दुसऱ्या दिवशी हे गृहस्थ दुसऱ्या शहरात जाणार होते. तिथे असेपर्यंत सामान मिळेल का? सामानात सर्व परकीय चलन, खाण्याचे पदार्थ (शाकाहारी लोकांसाठी जपान, युरोपातील काही देशात जायचे असेल तर गरजेचे), कपडे सगळेच होते. त्यामुळे चांगलीच गैरसोय होत असणार. त्यावेळची प्रश्नकुंडली(टीपा पहा) दिली आहे.

या कुंडलीत चंद्र षष्ठस्थानात, तृतीयेश, चतुर्थेश, आणि त्याचा नक्षत्रस्वामी मंगळ लाभात, सप्तमेश, व्ययेश. म्हणजे चंद्र हा ३, ४, ६, ११, १२ या स्थानांचा कारक आहे. यातील ३, १२ एकत्र ही स्थाने प्रवास विशेषत: परदेशप्रवास दाखवतात. ११ हे स्थान काहीतरी मिळवण्यासंबंधीचा प्रश्न दाखवते. ४ ह्या स्थानाने एकूण सामान दाखवले. पण ६ व्या स्थानाचा संदर्भ मला लागेना. एखादी गोष्ट मिळेल का, ह्यासाठी ११ व्या स्थानाचा उपनक्षत्रस्वामी त्या गोष्टीसंबंधी स्थानाचा कारक असावा लागतो. ह्या कुंडलीला लाभाचा उपनक्षत्रस्वामी शुक्र १, ६, ११ (शुक्राचा नक्षत्रस्वामी बुध) २, १० या स्थानांचा कारक आहे. तो ४ चा कारक नाही, म्हणून सामान मिळणार नाही असे उत्तर द्यावे का अशा विचारात मी असताना, चंद्र ६ व्या स्थानात आहे आणि लाभाचा उपनक्षत्रस्वामीही ६ चा कारक आहे, हे विशेष वाटले. सातवे स्थान एखाद्या बाबतीतील सहयोगी दाखवते. या प्रश्नात विमानप्रवास ही बाब धरली तर सहयोगी म्हणजे विमानकंपनी. ६ हे ७ व्याचे व्यय (आधीचे) स्थान, विमानकंपनीच्या ताब्यातून सुटणाऱ्या गोष्टी दाखवते. इथे हरवलेले सामान मिळवणे ही समस्या नाही, तर विमानकंपनीकडून ते मिळेल का हा प्रश्न असल्याने सामानाच्या कारक स्थानापेक्षा ६ वे स्थानच महत्त्वाचे आहे, हे चंद्राच्या स्थानाने माझ्या लक्षात आले. ह्या तर्काला पुस्तकी आधार नसल्याने मी साशंक मनाने, सामान मिळेल असे सांगितले. चंद्र मंगळाच्या नक्षत्रात आणि मंगळ लाभात असल्याने दिवस संपायच्या आत मिळेल असेही सांगितले. खरोखरीच त्या दिवशी हे गृहस्थ दिवसभराची कामे आटपून त्यांच्या हॉटेलवर जायच्या आत विमानकंपनीने ते तिथे पोचवले होते. चंद्रानेच प्रश्न टाकला आणि त्यानेच उत्तरही दिले. प्रश्न आणि उत्तर शेजारी असतात ते असे.

Makarsamkrant and Uttarayan, are they related?

The sun appears to move in a specific circle, if observed from the Earth. This circle is called the Ecliptic. This circle has been divided into 12 equal angular parts, forming 12 signs of the Zodiac. When the Sun enters Nirayana Makar sign, the day is called Makar Samkranti in India. This day is assumed to mark the beginning of Uttarayana. Accoding to the Manusmriti chapter one, verse 67, Uttarayana is considered as the day of Gods and thus the beginning of that day being Brahmamuhurta (auspicious time at the beginning of any day)  for Gods, the day of Makar Samkranti is considered very auspicious. But does Makar Samkranti really mark the beginning of Uttarayana?

From the Earth, the Sun appears to rise in the East, but it rises exactly at the East only on two days of the year. On other days, it appears to rise either towards the South or the North of the East. The period of the year, when the point where Sun appears to rise on the horizon moves towards the is called Uttarayana (Uttara meaning the North). The period when the same appears to move towards South is called Dakshinayana (Dakshina meaning the South).

If we observe the rising Sun everyday, we will see that the point on the horizon where the Sun appears to rise moves towards the South between 22nd June to 21st December. The same appears to move towards the North during the other half of the year. One can confirm these observations with high accuration using a software like Stellarium. It's very much evident from these observations that Dakshinayan ends on 21st or 22nd December and Uttarayana starts on the same day. Uttarayana does not start on the day when the Sun enters Nirayana Makar sign i.e. Makar Samkranti

The question is when should we observe the festival? The celebrations on this day includes consumption of sweets made of sesame and jaggery, wearing dark (preferably black) colored clothes, offering the nascent crops of carrots, berries to Gods. All these things are related to the Winter. Hence this festival should be celebrated in the middle of the Winter i.e. on the day of Winter Solstice i.e. 21st or 22nd December. Truly speaking, this festival is related to Uttarayana and better be observed when Uttarayana starts.

Vernal, Autumnal equinox, Winter and Summer solstice are four important points on the apparent path of Sun around the Earth. These points are not fixed with respect to the fixed stars. Every year they move against the direction of Nirayana Zodiac. Around 499 A.D. Sun used to be near Revati (ζ Piscium) star at the time of Vernal equinox, today it's near UttaraBhadrapada (γ Pegasi and α Andromedae) star. The same year, at the beginning of Uttarayana Sun must be at the start of Nirayana Makar sign. In the fifth century, the day of beginning of Uttarayana and the day when the Sun entered Nirayana Makar sign coincided. Marking the entry of the Sun into a sign was much easier than marking the end of movement of sunrise of point towards the South, since the later movement is slower than the Sun's movement and its accuracy is hampered by the refraction of Sun's rays in the Earth's atmosphere. So, the Pandits at that time would have chosen Makar Samkranti to mark the beginning of Uttarayana, since the error between these two events was tolerable at that time. The mathematics and the instruments too weren't that advanced to mark these events accurately. But now that we have computers for fixing positions of the planets upto 1000th part of degree accurately, we should not be following this 1500 years old erroneous tradition.

Other important factor to consider here, is after Makar Samkranti the Sun remains in signs ruled by Saturn for two consecutive months. The Sun who is the king amongst the planets, is significator of wealth, pleasures, youth, light, gold, where as the Saturn who is the servent amongst the planets, is significator of poverty, sorrow, old age, darkness, lead. Sun's dwelling in the signs governed by a planet so opposite in signification is not considered auspicious. How can then we celebrate the start of this period with a festival dedicated to it? This is the reason, Makar Samkranti is never considered fully auspicious.  Celebrate Uttarayana on it's true beginning i.e. 21st or 22nd December and it becomes completely auspicious.

Well, even today Makar Samkranti falls during the Winter, but after a thousand years, it will fall in the heat of summer. Consuming jaggery and sesame and wearing dark clothes in the summer would have disastrous effects on our health and we wouldn't have nascent carrots and berries to offer to the Gods, in the heat of the summer.

मकरसंक्रांत आणि उत्तरायण वास्तविक संबंध

पृथ्वीवरून पाहिल्यास सूर्य एका ठराविक वर्तुळात फिरताना दिसतो. या वर्तुळाला क्रांतीवृत्त असे म्हणतात. संस्कृत धातू क्रम् यावरून क्रांती हा शब्द आला आहे. क्रम् याचा अर्थ ओलांडणे, चालणे, फिरणे असा आहे. सूर्य या वर्तुळावरून फिरतो म्हणून ते "क्रांतीवृत्त". या क्रांतीवृत्ताचे बारा भाग कल्पिलेले आहेत त्यांना राशी असे म्हणतात. संक्रांत याचे मूळ सुद्धा क्रम हाच धातू आहे, त्यावरून एखाद्या राशीत सूर्याने प्रवेश करणे याला संक्रांत म्हणतात. प्रत्येक राशीच्या नावे एक याप्रमाणे १२ राशींच्या १२ संक्रांती असतात. सूर्य निरयन मकरराशीत प्रवेश करतो त्या दिवसाला मकरसंक्रांत म्हणतात. या दिवशी उत्तरायण सुरु होते अशी समजूत आहे. उत्तरायण म्हणजे देवांचा दिवस (मनुस्मृती अध्याया १ श्लोक ६७) मानला असल्याने, त्या दिवसाची सुरुवात म्हणजे देवांचा ब्राह्ममुहूर्त म्हणून, हा दिवस विशेष मानला जातो. परंतु खरंच मकरसंक्रांत ही उत्तरायणाची सुरुवात आहे का?

उत्तरायण म्हणजे काय हे जाणून घेण्यासाठी, पृथ्वीच्या उत्तरगोलार्धातून सूर्याचे भ्रमण कसे दिसते ते पाहू. सूर्य पूर्वेकडे उगवताना दिसत असला तरी, तो अगदी पूर्वेकडून फक्त दोनच दिवशी उगवतो. इतर दिवशी तो पूर्व-उत्तर किंवा पूर्व-दक्षिण या दिशांमध्ये उगवतो. ज्या काळात सूर्योदयबिंदू  (क्षितिजावर जिथे सूर्योदय होतो तो बिंदू) थोडा थोडा दक्षिणेकडे सरकतो, त्या काळाला दक्षिणायन (अयन म्हणजे सरकणे) म्हणतात. ज्या काळात सूर्योदयबिंदू उत्तरेकडे सरकतो, त्याला उत्तरायण म्हणतात.

रोज सूर्योदय उगवताना त्याचे निरीक्षण केले तर असे दिसून येईल की २२ जून ते २१ डिसेंबर या कालावधीत सूर्योदयबिंदू थोडा थोडा दक्षिणेकडे सरकतो, आणि २२ डिसेंबरनंतर पुन्हा २१ जूनपर्यंत तो उत्तरेकडे सरकतो. वर्षभर ज्यांना हे निरीक्षण करायचा कंटाळा आहे, त्यांनी Stellarium सारखी प्रणाली वापरून खात्री करावी. म्हणजे दक्षिणायन २१ डिसेंबर किंवा २२ डिसेंबरलाच संपते आणि तेव्हाच उत्तरायणदेखील सुरु होते. त्यामुळे मकरसंक्रांतीला उत्तरायण सुरु होत नाही हे सूर्यप्रकाशाइतकेच ढळढळीत सत्य आहे.

आता प्रश्न असा आहे की मकरसंक्रांतीला सण म्हणून जे जे करतात, उदा. तीळगुळ वाटणे, गुळपोळीचा आहार, काळे कपडे घालणे, वाण देणे, कोवळ्या भाज्या, बोरे, फळे सुगड्यात भरून ते वाण देवीला देणे, ह्याच वस्तूंनी लहान बाळांना आंघोळ घालणे (बोरनहाण) ह्या गोष्टी कधी कराव्यात? ह्या प्रत्येक गोष्टीचा संबंध हिवाळ्याशी आहे. त्यामुळे हिवाळ्याच्या मध्यभागी म्हणजेच दक्षिणायन संपताना डिसेंबरमध्ये २१ किंवा २२ तारखेला त्या करणे योग्य. हा सण खरेतर मकरसंक्रांतीचा नसून उत्तरायणाशी संबंधित आहे, तो उत्तरायण सुरु होतानाच करणे इष्ट!

मुळात मकरसंक्रांत आणि उत्तरायणाची सुरुवात हा संबंध कुठे आला ते पहावे लागेल. क्रांतीवृत्तावरील चार बिंदू सूर्याच्या भासमान भ्रमणामुळे महत्त्वाचे ठरतात: क्रांतीवृत्त आणि अवकाशीय विषुववृत्त (पृथ्वीच्या विषुववृत्ताचे अवकाशतील प्रक्षेपण) जिथे एकत्र येतात ते दोन बिंदू (वसंतसंपात, शरदसंपात), दक्षिणायन आणि उत्तरायण सुरु होताना सूर्य जिथे असतो ते दोन बिंदू. हे बिंदू तारकापुंजांच्या सापेक्ष स्थिर नसून ते दरवर्षी राशीचक्रात मागे सरकतात. साधारण इ.स. ४९९ मध्ये वसंतसंपात रेवती ताऱ्याजवळ होता (सध्या तो उत्तराभाद्रपदा नक्षत्रात आहे). त्यावर्षी उत्तरायण सुरु होताना सूर्य निरयन मकरराशीच्या आरंभी असला पाहिजे. या काळात मकरसंक्रांत (सूर्याचा निरयन मकर राशीत प्रवेश) आणि उत्तरायण हे एकाच दिवशी होत असावे. सूर्योदयबिंदूचे अयन अतिशय हळू होत असते, त्यामुळे दिवसागणिक त्यात फार फरक दिसत नाही. त्यातच वातावरणाच्या प्रभावामुळे सूर्योदयबिंदू नुसत्या निरीक्षणाने निश्चित करणे कठीण असते. त्यामुळे उत्तरायण निश्चित कधी सुरु झाले किंवा होईल हे सांगणे नुसत्या निरीक्षणाने अवघड असते. त्याउलट सूर्याचा मकरराशीत प्रवेश निश्चित करणे तुलनेने सोपे. १५०० वर्षांपूर्वीची साधने, गणितातील प्राविण्य विचारात घेता, मकरराशीत प्रवेशावेळी उत्तरायण साजरे करणे हा मार्ग तेव्हाच्या शास्त्रकारांनी घालून दिला असावा. त्यातील चूक फारशी लक्षात येण्याजोगी नसल्याने ते चालून गेले असावे. पण आज गणितातील आणि संगणकीय सुधारणांमुळे ग्रहांची अगदी विकलेपर्यंत स्थिती निश्चित करता येत असताना, आपण ही १५०० वर्षांपूर्वीची प्रथा अजूनही आंधळेपणाने पाळणे बरोबर नाही.

दुसरी महत्त्वाची बाब म्हणजे, मकरसंक्रांतीपासून पुढे दोन महिने सूर्य शनिच्या राशींमध्ये असतो. रवि हा ग्रहमंडलातील राजा वैभव, तारुण्य, सोने, जीवन, सुख, उत्साह यांचा कारक तर शनि हा ग्रहमंडलातला दास दारिद्र्य, वार्धक्य, शिसे, मृत्यू, दु:ख, नैराश्य यांचा कारक. ह्या दोन राशी त्यांच्या स्वामीप्रमाणेच सूर्याला विपरीत गुणांच्या आहेत. त्यात सूर्य प्रवेश करत असतानाचा दिवस सण म्हणून कसा साजरा करता येईल? त्यामुळेच की काय पण हा सण लग्नानंतर पहिला सण असल्यास साजरा करत नाहीत आणि किंवा या दिवशी कोणी शुभकार्याचा आरंभही करत नाहीत. याउलट २१-२२ डिसेंबरला हा सण साजरा केल्यास कुठलेच अशुभाचे सावट त्यावर राहणार नाही.

अजूनही मकरसंक्रांत थंडीत येत असल्याने फारसा फरक पडत नाही, परंतु आणखी हजार वर्षांनी मकरसंक्रांत उन्हाळ्यात येऊ लागेल तेव्हा ऊष्ण तीळगुळ खाऊन कसे चालेल आणि सुगड्याचे वाण द्यायला तेव्हा भर उन्हाळ्यात कोवळी गाजरे, बोरे कशी मिळतील?

Rohini had zeroed down onto a house that she had liked most, the location was good too. Money wasn't a problem. Obviously, there were other buyers in the game. On 5th January 2014 at 9:47 PM IST she asked me whether she would be able to buy that home.  Given is the Nirayana horoscope at the time at Pune (where I was located then).

Moon is in Jupiter's star and Jupiter is in the eleventh house, which signifies matters related to one's desires, likings and wishes. The cusp of the fourth house (which signifies matters related to one's house) falls in sub of Moon. Thus Moon indicates the question related to house one likes. That's the fun with the horary charts, that they indicate the query even though queriest doesn't verbalize it.

In Krishnamurti system, the sub in which the cusp of house in question falls indicates whether the answer to the query would be favourable or unfavourable. If the sub signifies the complementary houses and is situated in the star of planet in direct motion, the answer is favourable otherwise unfavourable. For the given horary chart, Moon is the sublord of fourth house and it is in Jupiter's star, thus indicating unfavourable answer. So, I told Rohini that she won't be able to buy the house. Further, the cusp of eleventh house falls in the sub of Saturn. Saturn is situated in the third house. Third house being the house before fourth, negates the fourth house. Hence the sublord of cusp of eleventh house negates the house, indicating the Rohini herself wouldn't want to buy that house.

"You wouldn't want to buy that house.", I answered after examining the horoscope.

"I liked that house and want to buy it desperately. How would then you say so?", Rohini was clearly confused by the irony.

"The horoscope tells me so. Go ahead and try buying the house". I was sorry to answer that way, but an astrologer is a mere messenger of the skies.

Rohini made her bid on 14th January and consulted the loan agent. Same day the loan agent pointed out that there will be problems in securing loan for that particular house. Rohini withdrew the offer within next hour. Because of my prediction, she was ready for the outcome and started searching new home.

From her birth-chart, I predicted that she would be able to buy house between June 2014 and September 2014. The timelines predicted from birth-chart can have a sway of about 2-3 months depending upon the accuracy of the birth-time. In April 2014, she proposed to buy a different house and settled in it by June 2014.
